Why We Are The Better Sponge

Better for The Planet
Plastic sponges and cloths are made from plastic that can linger for hundreds of years and shed microplastics as you clean (lab tests on melamine “eraser” sponges measured up to 6.5 million fibres per gram of worn material). These fibres pollute waterways, and harm nature.
Composty uses plant-based, plastic-free materials and low-impact packaging—built to work hard, then bow out gracefully.
- Composts in months, rather than centuries
- Less plastic in your routine, less waste overall
- Lasts longer, so you buy fewer & bin fewer
- Responsible kraft/paper packaging

Better for Your Home
Plastic sponges and cloths can hold smells, harbour bacteria, scratch delicate surfaces, and crumble fast. They just don't last long!
Composty is the eco sponge that cleans brilliantly with non-scratch scrub and fast-drying plant fibres that stay fresher between washes and can be washed themselves and used for months.
- Super-absorbent, multi-use & effective
- Stays fresher: quick-dry fibres help reduce that “old sponge” whiff
- Easy care: rinse & air-dry; all kitchen & home products are machine-washable or pop them in your dishwasher

Better for Your Family
Plastic sponges and cloths can shed tiny plastic fibres around food prep, bottles and little hands.
Composty is plastic-free and kind to skin—you get the clean without plastic hitch-hikers.
- No microplastics by design. Our fibres are plant-based (cellulose/loofah/cotton), not plastic
- Gentle for real life. Great for bottles, faces and everyday spills.
- Proven & backed. 4.7★ average reviews and a 30-day guarantee.
Why this matters: microplastics have been detected in human breast milk, blood, placenta, and even brain tissue in recent studies.
FAQ
Yes - even better. The cellulose side is super-absorbent for quick wipe-ups; the loofah/scour side tackles stuck-on bits without shedding plastic. Use with your usual washing-up liquid or low-tox refills.

No. You still cut plastic from your routine even if you don’t compost. When they’re worn out, cut into small pieces and compost where possible. If you only have the option to put them in the bin, go for it, they are still better than throwing away plastic. When finished with, some customers use them to place in the bottom of their plant pots to help retain moisture.
